This dress was for my cousin's bridal shower this weekend. The skirt was made in multiple sittings, but the top was crafted twice (technically 2 because I redid it). I used the same satin from Amazon, purchased in a stunning royal purple. The only issue I encountered was that it seemed to wrinkle faster than other outfits I had made with the same material.

The skirt is a circle skirt that I absolutely love to twirl in. I took a piece of chalk and traced it around a doubled piece of fabric with the right sides together. After cutting it, I removed the middle part to match the size of my waist and then cut a slit down to accommodate my hips. Once I confirmed that it fit, I pinned and sewed around the skirt's circumference, flipping it inside out. Afterward, I ensured it was properly aligned and pressed it flat to smooth out the wrinkles and uneven hem.

For the waistband, I created a tie-back design. I sewed a large tube, flipped it inside out, and then attached it to the inner circle of the circle skirt. There was enough excess to allow it to be tied closed in the back, adding a charming detail.

The top essentially consisted of a tube sewn together to create a double layer. In the first iteration, two pieces of elastic ran down the sides, but I wasn't satisfied with how it looked. While in my dorm, I removed the elastic using scissors because I had forgotten to bring a seam ripper, making it quite a challenging task. Once the elastic was undone, I sewed it into the center front of the tube. On the back, I added grommets for lacing it up using leftover black ribbon. I also inserted two pieces of boning on each side to provide more support.
